Another Macallan Genesis added to the Fah Mai Holdings Rare Whisky Collection
.
Created to celebrate the completion of the new £140m Macallan distillery and visitor centre, The Genesis is a limited release of just 2,500 bottles.
.
The Genesis comes with a signed lithographic print of the new distillery’s architectural plans printed on Italian cotton paper produced by Magnani, created by one of only two remaining map printing presses in the UK.
Bottled at 45.5%ABV with only 2,500 bottles being released worldwide and with a price tag of £495 a bottle, the demand from the general public for this release seemed to have even taken The Macallan by surprise.
.
So much excitement in-fact that upon its release on the 14th of August 2018, so many people turned up to the distillery to try and buy one of the limited release bottles, that roads had to be closed and the police were called to manage the chaos. Fast forward just 12 days later and the first batch of Macallan Genesis bottles being sold at auction. Selling for an average price of £4,750 per bottle, with the most expensive bottles selling for £4,800.
.

After the initial excitement of the Genesis release had tied down, prices for this bottle reduced to a more reasonable level. Today it averages for around £3,000, still 500% above its original price.
